214,000+ Houstonians

lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a typical year, the region creates 60-70,000 jobs,

suggesting that Houston should return to pre-COVID employment levels by December 2023 -- about 2 years from the end of the pandemic.

Up to 25% of the workforce

will need to develop new skills in light of the pandemic.

Houston Back on Track is an employer-led job recovery initiative with a mission to get you, Houston’s workforce, back on your feet.

Houston Back on Track was developed by business, education and community partners working together to connect you to good jobs and provide the necessary support to foster long-term career success.

We started by identifying Houston employers with readily available, quality, forward-focused jobs and fostering community and education partnerships to help provide access to short-term training and certification programs along with career coaching to ensure you're confident and fully prepared to take the next step to reach your goals and further your career.

UpSkill Houston— an employer-led initiative — mobilizes the collective action of more than 200 critical stakeholders to strengthen the pipeline of skilled workers that employers need and to create better pathways to opportunity and prosperity for all Houstonians.
